Build your own Pegoretti frame

Most of us are pretty capable when it comes to building up bikes, we upgrade, fettle, tweak – sometimes compulsively – or start from scratch with the frame. But the frame? That’s an entirely different set of spanners. But how about the chance to build your own frame under the tutelage of Italian masters of the craft, all while enjoying the delights of the Italian countryside? Read on.

Pegoretti have teamed up with specialist holiday providers 60aday.com to create a frame building school ‘holiday’ in the Dolomites. The week-long trip starts off with lessons on biomechanics and frame materials in the workshop with Dario and Gianni Pegoretti, before they measure you up for your frame and discuss your custom requirements. After that it’s hands-on cutting, welding, reaming, cutting and filing until your frame is ready to be painted. But it’s not all work, work, work, you also get a couple of days out to take in some of the fantastic riding the Dolomites have to offer, including Passo Manghen – a 23km climb from Borgo Valsugana.

As you’d expect the trip isn’t exactly a snip at 3,000 Euro (with a 300 Euro supplement if you’re going alone). That will get you: all hotels, meals, snacks, and drinks; pick and return to the airport; full support from the small group of guides and route support when out riding; transfer of all your gear between hotels; some unspecified freebies from the sponsors and, of course, you’re very own Pegoretti/Jo Bloggs frame. You’ll have to sort out your own flights to and from Milan.

The next trip starts on the 27th of June, so you’ll have to be quick if you’re interested.
