Entries for the second Great Weston Ride on Sunday July 17, 2011 are now open.
Inspired by the London to Brighton ride, the 56-mile city-to-coast challenge debuted this year.
The ride starts in Bristol and then takes riders through some of the south west’s stunning countryside and picturesque Somerset villages as it weaves its way through the Mendips and across the Somerset Levels to its final destination on the seafront in Weston-Super-Mare.
The 2010 event sold out and, while there will be increased capacity for next year, organisers expect the ride to fill up quickly.
“A great deal of thought and effort went into getting the route right, and the overwhelming consensus from this year’s riders was that the route was spot-on in terms of stunning scenery and presenting a good level of challenge for riders of all abilities and experience,” said ride director Andy Cook.
“We wanted to create a ride that has something for everyone and the feedback we’ve received tells us that, while it’s most definitely a decent challenge, it’s also a ride that just about anyone can have a go at with a little bit of determination.”
