First spotted by RCUK back in mid 2011, Time’s VRS Fluidity is aimed at the sportive/fast audax market. To be more precise, it is aimed at the very top of the sportive/fast audax market thanks to its premium price tag, which then exceeded £3,000 for the cable shift frame and fork.
The French lightweight specialist’s new offering is now available as a complete machine built around Shimano’s electronic shifting Ultegra Di2 groupset. It features an impressive list of technologies including RTM – Resin Transfer Moulding – composites moulding, a technique unique to Time within the world of cycle manufacture.
The French-made Fluidity “module” also showcases technologies familiar to Time afficionados from previous models: Vibraser, which uses Vectran fibres to absorb and smooth road vibrations and Translink, which integrates the seatmast as a continuous element with the seat tube. The fork is Time’s proven Safe+ 2 turning in ain integrated QuickSet head bearing; there’s a press-fit BB86 bottom bracket and the whole Di2-ready assembly including battery mount weighs 1615g.
Built up using Deda bars, bar tape and stem, a Selle Italia saddle and Vittoria Rubino tyres, the Fluidity Di2 is available in six sizes and boasts “Performance Geometry”. Price for the complete cycle minus pedals is £5699.99.
