LOOK invented the clipless pedal and for many, their designs remain the standard by which others are judged.
The Keo Carbon Blade Ti pedal is second from the top of LOOK’s impressive range, bested only by the Keo Blade Aero, which has an aero-profiled underside fashioned from carbon fibre.
As might be expected, this unit has a carbon fibre body, the principal contributing factor to a low weight of just 94 grams per pedal. A further weight saving has been gained by substituting titanium for the chromoly axle of the standard Keo Carbon Blade. The bearings (needle and cartridge) are protected from the elements with a double seal.
Immediately noticeable is the large pedaling surface, which LOOK claim is the largest on the market and a boost to power transfer. The pedal is also very slim – less than 1.6cm deep – which should deliver good road clearance in corners.
The hinged cleat retention jaw at the rear of the pedal is spring-loaded by a narrow strip of carbon – the ‘Nano Blade’ – on the underside of the pedal’s outer edge. The blade is supplied in two different thicknesses, to control the release tension.
We’re looking forward to clipping in and getting out on them. Check back to find out how we got on.
