The latest of Britain’s six UCI Continental squads to unveil its 2012 squad and team kit has done so at a training camp in Gran Canaria.
The Team UK Youth squad, backed by former Formula One world champion, Nigel Mansell, and managed by his son, Leo, will compete in domestic and overseas races this season.

Team leader, Magnus Backstedt, winner of the 2004 Paris-Roubaix, described the team’s recent training camp as “an excellent experience.”
“The team are getting on well, I think we’ve got a strong and very powerful team here for 2012 as we look to race an increased and improved calendar as a UCI Continental team.
“Gran Canaria provided a great backdrop for us to train consistently for two weeks, with some stunning and challenging climbs helping us prepare for some of the toughest races this season.
“The team looks fantastic and we’re just looking forward to representing UK Youth in 2012,” he said.
British bike builder, WyndyMilla, will provide bespoke machines for the team, equipped Reynolds wheels, Speedplay pedals, and Continental tyres.
Team UK Youth will be joined at racs on the UCI EuropeTour by five other British teams, including Endura Racing, Node4-Giordana, Rapha Condor Sharp, Team IG-Sigma, and Team Raleigh.
The ambitious British teams include a host of top-tier talent including former Paris-Roubaix winner, Backstedt, Endura Racing’s Russell Downing, who has joined the Scottish team from Team Sky, and Daniel Lloyd, unveiled last week in the colours of Team IG-Sigma Sport after racing in 2011 for Garmin-Cervelo, and in 2010 for the Cervelo Test Team in support of the 2008 Tour De France winner, Carlos Sastre, at the Giro d’Italia and Tour De France.
