Lars-Petter Nordhaug took his first win in Sky colours at the Trofeo Deia to cap a fine day for the British team.
With Mark Cavendish opening his account for the squad in Qatar, Nordhaug completed a Team Sky double with victory in Majorca.
Nordhaug and team-mate Sergio Henao made up one third of a six-man breakaway which escaped during a mountainous day on the Spanish island.
And Norwegian Nordhaug emerged victorious after a late attack, with Henao claiming third, while the team’s Welsh neo-pro Luke Rowe also made it onto the podium having secured the points jersey after making it into the first break of the day.
“It’s been a fantastic day; both here and in Qatar. It’s great for the guys and the whole team,” said Team Sky directeur sportif Marcus Ljungqvist.
“It kicked off from the gun with a five kilometre climb so it was full-on racing from the start. We had Alex [Dowsett] and Luke looking at the early breaks and they did really good. Luke got into the break and took the sprints so he got onto the podium too.”
