Dowsett will have surgery after breaking his elbow

“Broke my elbow yesterday. Drove myself back from Belgium & checked into A&E. Operation today at Royal London Hospital,” tweeted Dowsett, who also posted a picture of himself with his right arm in a cast.

The 23-year-old finished 12th in the three-day race’s opening prologue and was sitting in the top 20 overall going into the final stage, won by Arnaud Demare (FDJ-Big Mat), while Julien Vermote (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) secured overall victory.
