The first deliveries of the new Cervelo P5 aero bike will arrive in the UK at the end of May.
Cervelo unveiled both versions of their cutting edge machine last month – a UCI-compliant time trial configuration and a more aerodynamic triathlon model – to an invited audience at their BrainBike event in Spain.
The P5 has yet to be publically displayed in the UK, but a model has been secured by Cervelo’s UK distributors, Madison, for their Ice Bike trade show on February 23. RoadCyclingUK will report from the event.
A spokesman for Madison said: “The first frames are expected to land at the end of May and deliveries will be staggered to match production. Quantities are going to be limited, so it would be advised to get your preorders in soon.”
The new machine will be available in two configurations: a UCI-compliant version for use in sanctioned time trial events, and a still more aerodynamic version for triathlons.
The UCI compliant frameset has a suggested retail price of just under £3500 and is paired with a narrower fork than supplied with the triathlon package. An extended layback seatpost places the rider the required five centimetres behind the bottom bracket. A Tektro scissor-type brakeset is supplied.
Magura’s hydraulic RT8 TT brakes and the 3T-Aduro aerobar, designed in collaboration with Cervelo, are supplied with the P5’s triathlon configuration, which includes a much wider fork and has a suggested retail price of a penny under £4500.
Check back on Thursday February 23 for a full report from Ice Bike, where Garmin’s Vector pedal-based power meters, new bottle cages from Elite, and Selle San Marco’s limited edition range of WorldTour saddles will be displayed.
