A new sportive will take to the Thames Valley, Chilterns and Oxfordshire countryside on 11 April with a choice of 100mile and 100km routes.
The Chilterns Big Dipper 100 miler and Chilterns Little Dipper 100km routes start at Shiplake College to the west of Henley and offer a challenging ride for participants.
“It’s got a good mix of short steep ramps, longer more gentle climbs, some fast narrow descents and some sections where you can roll along in a big gear,” says Tim Hyde.
Furthermore, the climbing gets underway early with a small climb just 4km after the start to get the legs going, with regular climbs at steady intervals from then on. The route stays away from main roads and meanders its way up and down the valleys. It even passes through many locations Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was filmed.
The college offers great facilities, with showers, toilets, club pavillion, access to river and tow path, refreshments, music, SBR Sports, Mechanic. Parking is located on the college cricket field. There will be a voluntary donation to be paid that will be donated to supported charities.
The event will be using Sportive Timing Chip – SPORTiDent and SPORTiDENT online entry system. All finishers receive a finishers t-shirt & goodie bag.
