The latest bike to arrive in the RCUK bike shed is a brand new Dolan Dual. The clue is in the name, this is essentially a racing frame but with the addition of mudguard eyelets so that mudguards can be fitted for those training sessions that have to be undertaken in decidedly unwelcome weather. And if you’re racing at the weekend, the ‘guards can easily be taken off.
The frame and fork are both made from Toray uni-directional carbon fibre with a fresh eye-catching paint job which has been grabbing the attention of everybody in the office since the mountain of bubble wrap was removed.
Shimano’s new Ultegra 6700 is fitted and represents our first chance to take the latest groupset for a decent ride. Elsewhere there’s Mavic Askium wheels with Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres, Deda Quattro stem and Piega gloss black handlebars, a San Marco SKN saddle and, of course, a set of mudguards.
The complete bike as pictured costs £1,755 but you can also buy the frame separately (£850 painted or £725 for a standard carbon finish).
