Craft Pro Cool Sleeveless baselayer review

Pro Cool Sleeveless baselayer £19.99

Craft’s Pro Cool baselayer is made from a material so light and thin that you hardly notice it when you’re wearing it, but you can’t fail to notice just how dry and cool it keeps you during the most demanding weather and riding.

The material, super thin and lightweight, all but disappears when pulled on. That paper thinness and Craft’s proCOOL hexa-channel fibres ensure that all sweat is pulled quickly away from the skin. You don’t notice it when it’s there, but what you do notice is just how dry and cool you remain. Which is exactly you want from a baselayer.

An ergonomic fit ensures it fits well and keeps the material close to the skin for it to work most effectively. The waist is shaped to ensure coverage when tucked low over the handlebars, and the collar is cut open and wide and thus avoids irritation around the neck. I was initially skeptical of the sleeveless design, but I quickly accepted it as beneficial, principally because there’s less material to bunch up underneath a short sleeve jersey.

It’s usually the reserve of Merino wool baselayers for odourless clothing after extended riding, but the Craft Pro Cool never once smelt bad proving that the material used copes well with pongs, much to my relief.

Available in sizes from XS to XXL.

Verdict

Overall: One of the lightest and coolest base layers I’ve tested.
