Bradley Wiggins claimed the seventh Olympic medal of his career in emphatic style to become Great Britain’s most decorated Olympian.
The Londoner rose to the occassion on home soil to win ahead of world time trial champion Tony Martin (Germany) and Great Britain and Team Sky teammate, Chris Froome.
Thousands of people lined the 44km circuit which started and finished at Hampton Court Palace, sportingly cheering on all competitors but reserving their biggest cheers for Wiggins and Froome.
