Few things are more Scottish than Endura, the clothing brand based in Livingston, sponsor of the victorious Tour of Britain and Tour Series-winning road team, and supplier of the RCUK jersey.
Among its rivals for Scottish-ness, however, is whisky. Along with rain, haggis and tartan, “the water of life” is synonymous with life north of the border, and enjoyed around the world.
Fitting then, that Endura should produce a line of whiskey-themed jerseys, inspired by the designs of Bowmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Isle of Skye Blended Scotch Whisky, and Jura Single Malt Whisky.
They’re made in Livingston from breathable CoolMax fabric, and equipped with three rear pockets, a concealed, three-quarter zip, and elasticated sleeve and hem.
Endura say the digital sublimation print means the dye won’t wash out of the jersey, preserving its brilliant colours.
They’re at pains to stress, however, that the fabric is not whisky-infused, and will not taste of whisky; bad news for those hoping to supplement their ride with something more enjoyable than an energy gel.
The first, limited batch will be despatched in boxes similar to those in which whisky bottles are packaged, making them an ideal Christmas gift for the rider with whisky and cycling in his heart.
The Endura Whisky Jersey costs £39.99.
