Competition: Joker sportive entry winners announced

Congratulations to our three winners in our competition with Southern Sportive offering free entry to The Joker sportive.

Dr Tim Morton, Marcus B, and K Johnston will each gain free entry to the event, which starts at Salisbury Race Course, Wiltshire, on Sunday April 7, 2013.

If you’ve missed out this time around, and are planning on riding the sportive anyway, you’ll be rewarded with another chance to win one of a host of great prizes at the RCUK tent.

Shaftesbury’s iconic Gold Hill is one of the greatest challenges of The Joker sportive

The Joker is a sportive with a difference. Joker’s Challenges offer additional loops and extra miles, rewarded by souvenir playing cards.

Fools Choices offer a chance to reduce the route without penalty, but be warned: the shortcuts may be more challenging than the signed route. Organisers warn of the need for CX and pavé riding skills.

If you’re taking part in the event, but missed out in the competition for free entry, worry not – there will still be chances to win fantastic prizes thanks to generous friends of RCUK.

Come and visit us in the RCUK tent at the start/finish area at Salisbury Racecourse, and enter our competition for a chance to win one of a host of prizes.

Enter a draw for our  star prize: any short-sleeved jersey from stylish cycle clothing brand, Solo, courtesy of our friends at Paligap.

Make sure you pick up a flyer from the RCUK tent, which will be printed with a code to enter the competition on RoadCyclingUK.com.

The rider drawn from among the female riders to complete all four Joker’s Challenges, will win a wireless Cateye computer in feminine pink, worth £49.99, from Zyro.

A Birzman track pump, courtesy of i-Ridea choice of any Challenge tyre, offered by Paligap and a £25 voucher to spend at Cycle Surgery, will be among the prizes chosen for riders who enter the competition in the RCUK tent.

The Joker sportive was held for the first time last year, when April 1 – popularly known as April Fool’s Day – fell on a Sunday.

Seizing the opportunity to give a twist to the spring sportive format, organisers, Southern Sportive, decided to introduce a unique series of additional challenges.

The format proved so popular that they have decided to bring it back for 2013. Two routes are offered: a short course of between 50km and 80km, and a full course of between 100km and 150km.

Places are still available for both. Entry to the short course costs £25. Entry to the full course costs £27. Follow this link to get involved.
