Earlier this month we gave you the chance to win a weekend of riding and racing at the Virgin Money Cyclone, along with the chance to get up close and personal with pro riders – and now we can announce the winner.
Congratulations to Martin Peffers!
Martin will get the VIP treatment at the Virgin Money Cyclone: a four day cycling festival in Newcastle and Northumberland, which kicks off on Friday June 28 with the famous Leazes Criterium races, where some of the UK’s top riders battle it out for big prizes on a tight and exciting course.
The Virgin Money Cyclone Challenge sportive then takes place on the Saturday, offering a choice of 33, 63 or 104-mile routes on the quiet, challenging and beautiful roads of Northumberland.
The racing continues on the Sunday morning with the Curlew Cup. First run in 2012 and won by Paralympian Sarah Storey, the Curlew Cup is one of a new breed of top flight women’s races and part of British Cycling’s elite national women’s series.
On Sunday afternoon it’s the turn of the men in the 61st edition of the Beaumont Trophy Premier Calendar race. Steeped in history – including a victory for Bradley Wiggins in 2011 – the race shares the Ryals climb with the Virgin Money Cyclone Challenge. Martin will ride in one of the team or commissaire cars during the race.
