Having built a reputation for producing high class titanium frames since the company launch just a couple of years ago, Enigma has come out with a steel frame that simply grabbed our attention when we managed to get an exclusive first look recently.
Don’t worry that Enigma is turning its back on titanium however; this is strictly a limited, fully bespoke option for those who still crave a steel bicycle in their collection. And I can think of no nicer way to get into steel.
The Elite, continuing the theme of names beginning with E, is made from Columbus Spirit tubing, fillet-brazed and hand-filed by none other than Mark Reilly, the designer behind all the Enigma frames and an accomplished frame builder with plenty of experience in steel.
Finished in a thick coat of gloss black around white panelling with decals detailed in glitter and with mirror-polished stainless steel dropouts, it’s gorgeous to look at. Especially on a sunny day, as when we checked it out. If you’re finding your credit card beginning to flex at the thought of it, the frame only can be yours for £895. The Reynolds fork fitted pushed the price up by around £220.
