Victoria Pendleton secured her second Gold medal of the Championships in the Women’s Scratch Race on Wednesday, day two of the event.
The women certainly weren’t hanging about in this event and there were some fierce and brave attacks from the word go.
It was Lizzie Armistead who made the crucial attack that nearly won her the Gold. She made the well timed move, swooped down the banking and took the bunch unawares to get away with just a few laps to go.
It was G.S Strada rider, Laura Bissell, who managed to go with Armistead and the pair looked as if the Gold and Silver were in the bag. However, in the final lap, Victoria Pendleton proved, in style, just why she is such a respected sprinter and shot past the pair for a tight finish on the line.
Armistead and Bissell gained well earned Silver and Bronze medals respectively after a fast and on-the-edge-of-your-seat race.
