With Milan-San Remo on the horizon, Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) ensured he goes into La Primavera in top form after a dominant stage six victory at Tirreno-Adriatico.
The Belgian super team got a little bit of luck, with a crash taking out Lotto-Belisol just before the finishing straight.
But the dominance with which they led out the Manx sprinter, before he came off Alessandro Petacchi’s wheel, was immense and certainly answered some critics.
