Felix English sprinted to Tour Series round four success in Aberystwyth as Rapha Condor JLT extended their overall lead with their third team win of the series.

English outsprinted Jon Mould (NFTO) and Mike Northey (Madison-Genesis), just holding off the Welshman, who had bridged to the two leaders on the final lap.

Northey and English broke clear of a 13-man leading group at the second intermediate sprint, with torrential rain having already caused the peloton to fracture early on.

The two worked well together throughout, protecting a small lead over the bunch and holding off attempts by the likes of Madison-Genesis duo Tom Scully and Tobyn Horton,
and Raleigh’s Yanto Barker (Raleigh) to join them.

However, a big effort by Welshman Mould saw him bridge on the penultimate lap in order to contest the final sprint for victory, but English just edged the 23-year-old to the round win.

Rapha Condor-JLT now hold a five-point lead over Madison-Genesis in the overall series standings ahead of a tough round in Durham, which includes the cobbled climb of South Street, on Tuesday (May 27).
