The first meeting of what we can expect to be a storming season of winter track racing kicked off at Calshot Velodrome on Sunday.
The incredibly short and steep track hosts some fast, action-packed racing over the winter months and you’ll see a range of top riders battling it out on the boards.
The indoor track league is a great way to keep racing over the winter and stay protected from the elements. Events include sprints, points races, unknown distance and loads more for both senior and youth riders.
If however, you’re looking for some slightly more steady riding, don’t be put off. The racing is split into A and B categories to cater for a mixed field of riders and if you don’t fancy competing, there are plenty of opportunities to join in on some beginner’s sessions throughout the year. If you want a slice of the action, either to race or watch, get down to Calshot on Sunday afternoons at around 1pm. Organised by British Cycling’s South Division, the league runs between 9 October and 19 December, breaks for some festivity and then runs again from 8 January to 5 February.
