No British rider will represent Team NetApp-Endura at the Tour de France this year after the German-Scottish team revealed their final nine-man line-up.
The team had listed Scott Thwaites, who is set to represent England at the Commonwealth Games, on their longlist, with Irish sprinting ace Sam Bennett also included.
But neither has made the final cut for a team which will be built around Leopold Konig, though Thwaites, who rode the Criterium du Dauphine, is listed as a reserve.
Erick Rowsell and Jonny McEvoy, the other two Brits on the team, were not included on the original long-list.
Czech rider Konig won a stage on his way to ninth place at the Vuelta a Espana last season and will now make his Tour de France debut on the back of finishing 11th at the Criterium du Dauphine.
None of the nine riders selected have ridden the Tour de France before, with the team having been handed a wildcard for the first time this season.
Two Germans make the cut, Andreas Schillinger and Paul Voss, while Koning’s compatriot Jan Barta is also included.
David de la Cruz, Zak Dempster, Bartosz Huzarski, Tiago Machado and Jose Mendes complete the line-up.
Team manager Ralph Denk said: “We’ll be riding with the required level of respect, but also with self-confidence, at the Tour.
“We’ve just completed the most successful first half of the season in our team history, and of course the guys are extremely motivated.
“The first goal we’ve set for ourselves is for Leo Konig to finish in the top 15 of the GC. We’re assigning four climbers – de la Cruz, Huzarski, Machado and Mendes – to offer him support.
“In addition, we also intend to join in the battle for a stage win. With Barta and Dempster, as well as our German veterans Schillinger and Voss, we also have some very good options for the rather profiled stages.”
Team NetApp-Endura’s inclusion means there will be a German team on the Tour de France for the first time in four years.
