It’s back! RoadCyclingUK Fantasy Tour de France returns for its second year in 2012, with a new-look game and a bike shed load of prizes up for grabs from Specialized.
In RoadCyclingUK Fantasy Tour de France, you’re the director sportif of your own cycling team and must guide your elite squad through the gruelling climbs and frantic sprints that make up the Tour de France.
What can you win?
The overall winner after three weeks of racing will ride away on a Specialized Tarmac Comp worth £2,200, with a Specialized Roubaix Compact worth £1,400 as second prize and a Specialized Secteur Elite worth £900 as third prize.
What’s more, we’ve got top-of-the-range shoes, helmets and clothing up for grabs as team of the week prizes, plus there’s also a stack of prizes on offer for the best team on each stage – so you’ve got a chance to win on every day of the Tour.
How can you get involved?
Head to www.rcukfantasytourdefrance.com and use your €20m budget to select nine riders, picking a maximum of two members from any Tour de France team. Unlimited team changes are available before the prologue in Liège, which starts at 13:00 BST on Saturday 30th June. Once the Tour is under way, you can make up to three changes to your team between stages and a maximum of 20 in total.
Points are awarded to the top 20 riders in each stage with bonus points on offer for being part of a stage winning squad and for claiming or retaining the lead in an overall classification. The stages have been split into two categories with 50% more points awarded for the most difficult and important days in the saddle.
