We have a winner!
Congratulations to Alasdair Howie of Inverness, the new owner of a carbon fibre Fondriest R20 road bike, thanks to RCUK, Impact CT, Fondriest’s UK distributor, and Upper Street Events, organisers of The Cycle Show, which opens to the public tomorrow (Friday 27) at the Birmingham NEC.
Thousands of people entered our competition to win this Italian-designed steed from the stable of machines by Maurizio Fondriest.
We asked you to choose the year in which Fondriest had been crowned world road race champion from a short list of three.
The answer, of course, was 1988, and with the passing of a quarter of a century, Fondriest’s passion for the sport remains undiminished.
If you missed out on this fantastic prize, but still fancy a chance to sample the riding pleasure of a Fondriest, then pay a visit to the Cycle Show and make your way to the premium road bike test track.
Three Fondriest machines will be available to ride, including the flagship TF0, as well as a TF3 and TF2.
Maurizio’s machines will take their place alongside a host of other high-end road bikes from the likes of Bianchi, Condor, Cube, Rose, Spin, and Trek.
The test track will be one of a number of attractions laid on for the thousands of visitors expected at the Birmingham NEC from Friday (27) to Sunday (29).
Some of the biggest stars of the sport, including Olympic gold medalist, Joanna Rowsell, Irish legend. Sean Kelly, and Sean Yates, tactical mastermind to Bradley Wiggins during the latter’s historic Tour de France victory, will be among those meeting the public.
And the hundreds of exhibitors booked for the show will be showing new technology for model year 2014, including bikes and kit to be shown for the first time to the British public.
Cube, Specialized, and Trek will feature among the global brands exhibiting at the show, alongside exclusive high-end brands like Condor.
