Weighing in at a respectable 250g for the 54cm to 58cm size, the Abus Tec-Tical sits at the apex of the German manufacturer’s helmet range and offers the usual range of features expected at such a position.
They include multi-shell in-moulding for “durable fusion” of the outer shell, which is made in several sections, and the EPA inner material; 14 air inlets and nine outlets connected by channels to ensure adequate ventilation; removable and washable padding; an anti-insect netting supplied separately; reflective strips moulded into the outer shell; and easily adjusted soft-touch straps with a protective pad for the buckle.
A close cranial fit is provided by ZoomPro, the Abus version of those ratcheting systems that secure the helmet around the back of the head. Colours are Grey, Red, Black and White and sizes run S/M and M/L. In the hand the Tec-Tical feels substantial and well-built, while first wear suggests it will be light enough to satisfy more performance-orientated road and mtb riders.
