Assos Zegho eyewear range launched

Legendary Swiss clothing brand Assos has decided to get launch the range of riding glasses unveiled on its slick website earlier this week.

“Does the world need more eyewear?” Assos asks on its website. “Probably not,” the message continues, “but we – racing-oriented high performance cyclists – do.
The ASSOS Werksmannschaft, our in-house product development pro team and, in essence, our product engineers, feels that the currently available generic sports glasses could be improved to meet the specific demands of the toughest sport in the world: Cycling.”

So they’ve collaborated with Carl Zeiss to design a range of three glasses called Zegho, to accommodate the demands of different riding and light conditions. The three models, Noire, Werksmannschaft and Amplify offer a choice of black frame/black lens, white frame/black lens or black frame/yellow lens respectively.

The unique-looking glasses are light: weight has been kept low with a novel design that gives an uninterrupted 180 degree field of vision, with the arms fixing to the edge of the lens. A special coating on the lens keeps fingerprint smudges, rain and road grit from spoiling your vision, while a unique Tunnel Vision process keeps the lens dark tinted through the upper two-thirds of the lens and clear across the bottom third. With a sharp transition between the two zones, Zegho TV gives you crystal clear vision with just a slight lift of your head.

“Zegho was created to be the ultimate high-performance cycling-specific eye protection. Its job is to give you perfect, fully protected 1:1 performance vision when cycling,” says Assos.

No word on UK pricing yet but, as with their clothing, expect it to be reasonably high.
