The Basso Astra is the top-end race bike offering from the Italian company, which has a long history of making finely crafted bikes.

Currently being imported into the UK by Moore Large & Co, the Astra certainly is a striking machine.

The chunky looking frame is made from T700 3K carbon fibre and the large top and down tubes feature a distinct four-leafed clover shape, increasing the stiffness of the frame. The rear stays are similarly oversized which keeps the frame nicely in proportion as well as ensuring its one stiff frameset.

Despite this, Basso claims despite being well suited to the demands of racing and fast racing with precise handling, it’s equally at home on longer rides offering a smooth and comfortable ride. We’ll look to find out if it lives up to these claims once we swing a leg over it.
