Arnaud Demare’s Lapierre Pulsium
Arnaud Demare’s Lapierre Pulsium
The Lapierre Pulsium was one of the most striking machines on show at the cobbled Classics.
The French firm’s latest ‘comfort’ bike uses a ‘shock absorbing elastomer ring’ on the split tobtube to, well, help absorb the shock of the cobbles. The curved profile of the toptube and curved and skinny seatstays are also designed to take the edge off the pave. Meanwhile, Lapierre’s ‘Power Box’ concept marries those comfort-boosting features with a lower half of the frame designed with stiffness in mind to ensure the Pulsium isn’t lacking anything when the race heats up.
Like most ‘endurance’ bikes, the Pulsium has a more relaxed geometry to the Xelius normally raced by FDJ.fr – but with no custom geometry on offer, riders had to resort their own modifications. When we spotted Arnaud Demare’s Pulsium at Paris-Roubaix it was devoid of a headset top cap to get the low position he desired.
