Marcel Kittel’s Giant Propel Advanced SL
British cycling fans will certainly be very familiar with Marcel Kittel’s Giant Propel, with the German sprinting to victories in Belfast, Harrogate, London (twice) and Liverpool this year, at the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Tour of Britain.
The Propel was launched in January 2013 and the frame’s teardrop profiles are designed to cheat the wind, while the slimline V-brakes are hidden behind the fork and seatstays.
The team’s co-sponsor, Shimano, supplies the Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and wheels, while the Japanese firm’s component subsidiary provides the finishing kit, including the oversized PRO Sprint stem first designed in conjunction with Kittel’s sprint rival, Mark Cavendish.
To celebrate Kittel’s victory in Harrogate on stage one of the Tour de France, he rolled out of York the following day on a custom yellow frame, complete with yellow handlebar tape and a yellow SRM PowerControl 7 computer. You can see that machine here.
The PRO Vibe Sprint stem features in the RCUK100 – RoadCyclingUK’s definitive guide to the 100 best products for 2015. Coming soon.
