Ag2r La Mondiale has switched groupset suppliers from Campagnolo to SRAM for the 2015 season.
The French WorldTour team has unveiled its updated fleet ahead of the started of the new campaign at the Tour Down Under later this month.
The squad will continue to use the super-light Focus Izalco Max, ridden to a second place finish at the 2014 Tour de France by Jean-Christophe Péraud. The Izalco Max is Focus’ flagship machine and has a claimed weight of just 725g for a size 54cm frame, paired with a 295g fork. The team will use the Izalco Max Chrono in time trials.
Ag2r La Mondiale’s machines were equipped with Campagnolo components last season but the team has moved to SRAM and the American firm’s flagship Red groupset. SRAM’s WiFli long-cage rear derailleurs allow the use of an 11-30t or 11-32t cassette on mountain stages though, in reality, we expect most of the team to use an 11-28t cassette throughout most of the year.
While SRAM sponsored three teams (Cannondale Pro Cycling, Omega Pharma-QuickStep and Tinkoff-Saxo) in the WorldTour in 2014, Ag2r is its sole representative this time out.
SRAM owns Zipp so Ag2r will also use Zipp Firecrest carbon fibre wheels. The team’s riders will have four carbon fibre tubular wheelsets in a range of depths to choose from on race day, from the super-light 202 in the mountains, through to the deep-section 808 Firecrest. The Super-9 Disc will be called into action on time trials, while the team will train on the 404 Firecrest Carbon Clincher.
Finally, the team will use power meters from another SRAM subsidiary, Quarq, while finishing kit and saddles come from Fizik.
