Boardman Bikes unveil limited edition TK/20 track bike

Boardman Bikes have unveiled the TK/20 track bike to celebrate the 20th anniversary since Chris Boardman’s triumph at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

The limited edition run of 92 signed bikes will cost £999.99 each. The TK/20 is described as a super-light, triple butted alloy frame with track-specific geometry, an aero carbon fork, tapered steerer and stainless steel dropout plates. The design also allows for brakes to be fitted, making it suitable for the road as well as the track.

Boardman’s individual pursuit success was Great Britain’s first track cycling gold for 72 years, and the 43-year-old went on to win three Tour de France prologues, wearing the yellow jersey on three occassions as a result.

“Success on the track in ’92 was the springboard for my career as a pro rider,” said Boardman. “Every hour spent in the velodrome paid back ten fold when I started to ride for a ProTour team.

“Track cycling might be a specific beast but I wanted to create a bike that could, without compromise, also be used on the road, so brake compatibility has been designed in. It would certainly make a unique fast-fixie.”

The frame will be specced with a Truvativ Omnium GXP chainset, Fizik Arione saddle and cboardman Carbon/Pro finishing kit. Gold decals and a metal head badge complete the look.

The TK/20 is available worldwide; in the UK you can pre-order the bike for September delivery through Boardman Bikes’ network of Elite Series dealers.
