Campagnolo MyCampy app now available, plus collaboration with Garmin announced

Display live drivetrain data on your Garmin

Following the launch of Campagnolo’s MyCampy app, the Italian brand has announced a collaboration with GPS computer manufacturer Garmin.

The latest version of the Campagnolo’s EPS electronic groupsets, V3, can now communicate directly with Garmin’s Edge 520 and Garmin Edge 1000 computers thanks to a software update released by Garmin.

That means riders running a Campagnolo EPS V3 groupset along with an Edge 520 or Edge 1000 computer can view EPS data such as gear position, ratio and battery life on their head unit.  “Availability of real-time information on the handlebar represents a safety and performance advantage as it eliminates the need to move one’s head to see the gearing, keeping your eyes closer to the road,” according to Campagnolo.

Campagnolo’s third generation EPS groupsets can now display live data on Garmin’s Edge 520 and 1000 computers

While last year’s V3 updates to Campagnolo EPS were seemingly limited to a slimmer battery and new Digital Tech Intelligence (DTI) unit, the real changes came beneath the surface in the groupset’s electronic tech, with the DTI interface now containing the battery charging point but also, more importantly, offering wireless connectivity (Bluetooth and ANT+) – that allows it to ‘speak’ to both the Garmin computer and a range of smartphones.

What is MyCampy?

The MyCampy app, which was announced at Eurobike and is now available free on iOS and Android, is the main benefit of that wireless update and also allows for detailed customisation and post-ride analytics.

– Campagnolo launch MyCampy smartphone app –

MyCampy allows EPS V3 users to tweak the groupset’s multi–shifting function (how many sprockets shift with one button press), activate ‘shift assist’ (which automatically operates the rear derailleur if you change between front chainrings, in order to maintain a smooth cadence), change the shifting speed and power, and change the function of the shifter controls (for example, ‘sprinter’ mode changes the levers so they operate the rear derailleur exclusively, and the thumb shifters so they operate the front derailleur).

Post-ride analysis includes the ability to see which gear you spent the most amount of time in during a ride, while MyCampy also allows the user to review heart rate, power and cadence data alongside gear choice, if the rider is setup with the relevant sensors.

While EPS V3 users will benefit most from MyCampy, the app also includes a ‘My Garage’ feature which will appeal to a wider audience, Campagnolo riders or not. It’s where users log their bikes and rides in order to keep track of mileage and when components may need servicing or replacing, with the app delivering a prompt when that is the case.

The MyCampy app allows EPS to customise a range of groupset settings

Existing Campagnolo EPS users who want to upgrade to V3 can do so by buying a new battery and and DTI unit. For more information on MyCampy visit the Campagnolo website or to upgrade to the latest Garmin Edge 520 or Edge 1000 software visit the Garmin website.
