Carbontec is a relatively new brand on the scene and we first featured some of their products last year. They import carbon frames, wheels and other components from the carbon manufacturing plants and supply them at very good prices.
They source all their products personally from the carbon manufacturers, which allows them to pick the tasty stuff, and means they can keep the price down, as they’re dealing direct. Here’s some of what’s instore for next year.
The Onyx Alexo is a full-carbon time trial bike, with every panel and tube made as aero as the designers have dared push the material. An aero head tube, super slim top tube, internal cable routing and a flared seat and chain stays, results in a frame tips the scales at 1,450. Carbontec have also sourced the sub-800g carbon TT bars, with adjustable fore/aft reach and internal cable routing.
Carbon wheels look fantastic, but can cost a fortune. Step up the Detec, a deep section carbon rimmed wheelset for £499.99. They’re clinchers, and to keep the weight down the braking surfaces are made from Scandium, with the price including wheel bags.
Costing a bit more at £750, the Zeta Mantis wheels are one piece carbon monocoque clinchers built around Joytech hubs and laced with 20/24 Richman bladed spokes, with a weight of 1,490g. And that price includes a double wheel bag, four pairs of pads and tools. Available January 2007.
