Christmas gift guide 2013: six items for less than £20

Six ideal stocking fillers for the cyclist in your life, which will not cost the earth

The humble bottle and cage are the unsung heroes of any cyclist’s ride. Dehydration and, subsequently, cramp is the typical price to pay for riding without water yet it is easy to avoid just by taking on enough water. And, unlike many components of the bike, the bottle and cage are not ruinously expensive.

Water bottles are the unsung heroes of the day ride

You will be hard pressed to find a bike not fitted with bottle bosses, and with a universal standard available, any cage will fit any bike. A lot of bike and apparel brands provide their own range of bottles, these days so why not treat them to one this Christmas. Providing it can hold more than half a litre of water, you are unlikely to go too far wrong. Our rather smart Madison-Genesis bidon, with fetching turquoise and orange detailing, has done good service, and is now on offer.
