Recently, Colnago announced news of its first sportive bike, the new Ace. And there’s more, for on the horizon is a new CLX 2.0.
The CLX 2.0 replaces the CLX released several years ago, which was the Italian company’s first venture into Taiwanese-built carbon framesets. Updates for 2010 bring about a reduction in weight; the frame is now just 1.1kg, while stiffness has reportedly been increased.
Colnago build the CLX 2.0 frame using a monocoque for the front triangle with lugged and bonded seat and chainstays. Both the top tube and downtube feature two external ribs and there’s greater tube wall thickness on the top of both the tubes, which Colnago say “increases the stiffness of the frame to give the rider a less harsh ride but keeping the well-known Colnago handling.” There’s an aero-shaped seat post and the company’s CHS headset.
Eight sizes are available (from 42s to 59s) and the model is offered in two colours for the complete bike or three colours for the frameset only. A Shimano Ultegra-equipped bike will set you back £2599.95 while a frame, fork and headset package is £1699.95.
