Fabric Line and Cell saddles now available
Fabric may be a relatively new brand but, as an off-shot of Charge, they know a thing or two about making saddles.
We’ve been impressed by what we’ve seen from Fabric so far, with the Scoop Flat Pro saddle one of the comfiest we’ve tested, and the ALM quite simply a thing of beauty. Fabric have made no secret about the forthcoming Line and Cell saddles, taking the range to four, but now they’re about to hit the shops.
The Fabric Line is designed for long days in the saddle and has a central channel to relieve pressure on the pudendal artery (you’re better off Googling that one). The Line saddle supports the sit bones with lightweight foam padding but additional comfort comes through the pressure relief channel. Like the Scoop, the Line has a nylon base designed to offer a decent amount of flex, again to improve comfort.
Two versions of the Line are available, and in a range of colours, costing £39.99 with chromo rails and £59.99 with titanium alloy rails.
The Fabric Cell is a particularly interesting design, using a unique air-sprung design to help distribute weight across the saddle, borrowing technology used on running shoes. Again, it’s all in the name of comfort, but, with a generous width of 155mm, Fabric say this saddle is best for a more relaxed, upright position and urban/commuting use.
The Cell comes in six bold colours, with a nylon base and chromo rails, for £49.99.
Also on display on the Fabric stand at the Cycle Show was the new Cannondale Slate. We’ve already covered the launch of Cannondale’s radical-looking new all-terrain/gravel bike but it’s well worth another look.
It’s a bike which blurs the lines between road and off-road, with its Lefty fork (which offers 30mm of travel), 650b wheels and 42mm tyres. If you want one for yourself then it’ll come in three builds, with SRAM Force 1 (£2,999.99), Shimano Ultegra (£2,799.99) and Shimano 105 (£2,499.99), from early next year.
