dhb 2011 winter clothing First Look

dhb’s Windslam Roubaix jersey is fleece-lined and features an internal chin guard

Wiggle’s in-house brand, dhb, has become synonymous with high quality, competitively priced cycle clothing and the range has received a fresh look for autumn/winter 2011.

The brand began life as the online retailer’s value clothing range but, with a new logo, new names, new designs and a more consistent look, dhb is slowly shifting focus away from price and onto quality.

The new range covers jerseys, base layers, bib tights, gilets, jackets, waterproof trousers, arm/leg warmers, oversocks, overshoes, headwear and gloves.

One exciting introduction is dhb’s trio of 100 per cent merino wool base layers. The long sleeve tee, short sleeve tee and zip neck are all available in either 150g or 190g fabric so you have complete control over your body temperature. Prices range from £29.99 to £39.99.

The Momentum jersey, available in black, blue or red, is dhb’s mid-range offering (£49.99) and is a race cut with two rear pockets, a velcro centre pocket and a discreet security pocket, while a polyester fleece lining ensures the jersey keeps out all but the worst of the cold.

dhb’s winter range brings three bib tights’ to the fore. The entry-level Pace tights are made with Miti Ceylon fabric (190g), while the Pace Roubaix tights feature, you guessed it, 245g Roubaix fabric. The top-end SuperRoubaix tights are ideal for deep winter with an additional Windtex knee panel.

A softshell jacket for £69.99? Surely not? But dhb have done it with their sleek, black Windslam number. The Windslam is 100 per cent polyester, with a brushed interior fleece for the toughest of conditions.

Also among dhb’s five jackets on offer is the top-value £27.99 Wisp jacket – ideal for stuffing into a jersey pocket for emergencies – and the £54.99 Signal jacket – a wind and waterproof, high-visibility all-rounder.

Baggy waterproof trousers are on hand for commuting, the heaviest of rain or while out on the trails, while a range of accessories – from full-face balaclavas to headbands – are also available.

We’re waiting on a batch of dhb gear fresh from Wiggle – as soon as it lands at RCUK HQ, we’ll test it and let you know how we get on.
