Building on the experience gained in building the two established models bearing his name, former Classics specialist Johan Museeuw has launched a frameset built using tubes made entirely from flax fibres.
The MFI and MF3 frames both employ a combination of flax and carbon fibres, with the proven technology of the latter providing the required stiffness while the flax fibres dampen vibration. The new MF5 frame goes further, losing the carbon fibres and relying solely on flax for structural strength and stiffness.
Both properties are said to be entirely satisfactory, while the frame is claimed to exhibit exceptional ride qualities that should make it super-comfortable over longer rides. The MF5 is also one of the first frames to use the new carbon lugged construction soon to be found on all off-the peg Museeuw frames. The carbon-wrap build technique in use on current frames will still be avaialable on custom built frames.
Price for the MF5 is £2,299 for frame and fork and including headset. There are seven sizes on offer from XS to XXL
