Gaerne has been hand making shoes in its Italian factory since 1962 and are worn by such high profile riders as last years Tour de France contender Cadel Evans.
Evans even has his own limited edition custom G.Kangaroo shoes. One rung below them is the G.Myst, which have just arrived in the office for testing. And first impressions are one of high quality and high style.
The sleek white shoes (available in other less flash colours) feature an EPS Carbon Fibre Sole with moulded ventilation channels, and is compatible with most cleat systems. A two-piece Lorica upper features laser perforations and two Safety Lock straps and one aluminium micro-adjustable buckle. The Heel Grip is an injection moulded wrap around cup and the Adjustable Instep Closure System (A.I.C.S.) lets you tailor the instep tension, with a deep padded perforated tongue to avoid chafing and rubbing. The insole is made from perforated leather.
We’ll be slipping our feet into them soon and we’ll report on their performance one some miles have been logged.
£179.99 for the carbon sole version and £149.99 for the evolution (nylon composite sole).
