Merida, one the largest bike companies in the world, is hoping its flagship Warp 9 machine is going to take the time trialling and triathlon race scene by storm. And, from looking at these photos, it looks like it has all the credentials to do so.
Firstly, the aluminium frame and carbon fork features the requisite aero-shaped tube profiles to help the bike slip cleanly through the air, while deep-section Zipp 404 wheels ensure there’s no let up in the speed. FSA Vision handlebars provide a lo-pro riding position.
The frame is hung with a healthy component spec. SRAM Force fills the brake and shift lever and front and rear derailleur positions, while FSA supplies the Team Issue chainset with TT-style 42/54t chainrings. Zipp 404 clincher wheels are wrapped in Schwalbe’s Ultremo R tyres, and a Fizik Arione Tri saddle provides a surprisingly comfortable perch. Cost? £3,499.99.
