Here’s AMD’s press release in full:

AMD and HP, working closely with the LAF, have developed the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC, a one-of-a-kind consumer PC that bears the LIVESTRONG™ message and a reproduction of Lance Armstrong’s autograph. Fifty dollars from each HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC will go to the LAF to help it fund its public health, advocacy, research and education initiatives for people with cancer.

To show its full support of the program, AMD has made a two-year commitment to help generate a minimum of $4 million for the LAF from this initiative.

“In my battle with cancer, I learned that knowledge is power and attitude is everything,” said Lance Armstrong, cancer survivor, champion cyclist and founder of the LAF. “Empowerment plays an important role in dealing with a cancer diagnosis, and technology provides a way for patients and their loved ones to take control by arming themselves with information.”

“At AMD, we are inspired by Lance’s perseverance to overcome great odds, and impressed by his ability to effectively employ the power of technology. We are excited by the opportunity to help empower the LAF and the community it serves using our technology and our established alliances with HP and Lance Armstrong,” said Henri Richard, Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, AMD. “In addition to benefits that the LAF will receive, PC buyers from all walks of life will benefit from mobile performance enabled by HP ingenuity and the power of AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology.”

“HP and AMD have come together to create a distinctive, high-performance, thin and light notebook PC,” said Mark Sanchez, vice president, North America Consumer Computing, HP. “The introduction of the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC allows consumers to support a worthy cause while they stay connected with friends and family via secure mobile computing.”

LAF programs include public health initiatives, community programs, advocacy, research grants and education, including the LIVESTRONG™ Resource for Cancer Survivors.

“More than 10 million Americans are currently living with, through and beyond cancer,” said Mitch Stoller, president and C.E.O. of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. “The LAF recognizes efforts of HP and AMD to join the battle against cancer.”

In addition to the $50 that the LAF will receive from each notebook, HP has purchased yellow LIVESTRONG wristbands to be packaged with yellow stereo ear buds with every notebook. To further support the cause, AMD and HP plan to donate notebooks for use in LAF-funded cancer survivorship centers throughout the United States. In addition, the two companies are inviting PC buyers to join the battle against cancer by matching or exceeding the $50 per unit for the LAF.
