Four models have been added to the 2015 Performance range, from the 600-lumen Macro Drive XL to the 1500-lumen Deca Drive XXL. The Performance range is designed for serious riders, who require a light to illuminate the road (or trail) ahead of them.

In between the Macro Drive XL and Deca Drive XXL you have the Super Drive XXL, with a claimed 1200-lumen output, and the Power Drive XL, which will light your way with 900 lumens. While the model names may be familiar to riders who have used previous Lezyne lights, the 2016 lamps have been completely redesigned, with more lumens and a new body shape.

The Deca Drive XXL features six power modes, with the 1500-lumen Overdrive mode said to run for one hour and 45 minutes. Other settings include Blast (1000-lumen), Enduro (600), Economy (250), Flash and Pulse (both 150). Full run times can be found on the Lezyne website. The light has a classy CNC-machine aluminium housing, with the quality and finish we’ve come to expect from Lezyne, and illumination comes via three high-output LEDs.

Maximum output is the only difference between the Deca Drive XXL and the Super Drive XXL (1,200 lumens, £99.99), which both use a thumbwheel mount. The 900-lumen Power Drive XL (£84.99), meanwhile, features two LEDs rather than three and uses a silicone strap mount. Again, it has six modes to choose from.

The 600-lumen Macro Drive XL looks a high output, good value bet for road cyclists who want a light powerful enough for sensible night riding on unlit roads, but which is also compact (and affordable) enough for commuting. It has seven modes in all, with the additional Femto mode running at 15 lumens with a claimed 63-hour burn time. Like the Power Drive XL it uses a silicone strap mount and is yours for £53.99.
