Unveiled in early 2010, SRAM’s Apex groupset offers a range of gear ratios wider than that available using a typical road triple chainset arrangement. According to the manufacturer, the double chainring and wide ratio cassette concept, labelled “Wi-Fli”, also saves weight and improves the rate of shifting between gears.
New for 2011 is a finish described as “Alpine White”, which is applied to the brake calipers, front and rear derailleur mechs and the hood and shift paddle of the DoubleTap dual control levers. The White Apex crankset stays black but gets white graphics to match the other components. The chain and cassette remain unchanged, as do the standard features and specifications of the group.
SRAM White Apex is expected to be available in the UK by late spring 2011.
