The home riders have been waging a war against the Colombian climbing specialists who have dominated this Giro d’Italia.
Fortunately for Italian fans, in Astana’s Fabio Aru and Domenico Pozzovivo (Ag2r-La Mondiale) they have two of the most gifted climbers in the peloton.
Pozzovivo stands just 5’5″ tall and tips the scale at a little over eight stone – the perfect build for a rider hoping to defy gravity by placing the power-to-weight ratio firmly in his favour.
We got up close to the diminutive Italian’s steed to bring you this gallery.
