Faucon is a new brand, founded in 2013, which promises to offer jerseys inspired by the history of the sport.
We’ve just received the £110 (but currently reduced to £75) GC short sleeve jersey to review. It pays tribute to the cycling’s three Grand Tours – the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana – with pink, yellow and red bands to correspond to the leaders’ jersey of each race. Those bands run around the centre of the jersey and on the arms.
The jersey is made from a lightweight, 100 per cent polyester fabric. The front and rear panels are perforated with tiny holes to improve breathability and ventilation, while a mesh fabric is used under the arms to dissipate heat and moisture build-up. The full-length zip at the front should also help in that regard.
The sleeves are finished with a deep elasticated band, with an adhesive texture in on the inside, while the hem is also elasticated and lined with a silicone gripper at the rear.
At the back of the jersey there are three pockets, topped with pink, yellow and red respectively, while there’s also a small, zipped valuables pocket just about big enough to take an iPhone (or whatever else you want to put in there). There’s also a reflective tab at the bottom of the central pocket.
Faucon is French for falcon and the company’s logo – a falcon’s head – features on the right arm, on the back of the jersey and inside the collar. The words ‘Faucon Vélo Coureurs’ are written on the left arm.
That’s it as far as the GC jersey goes but the Faucon range also includes the KOM jersey, Sprints jersey and Giro jersey. The Sprints and Giro jerseys are also available in a women’s fit. See the full range on the Faucon website.
