Prologo is a relatively new brand to hit the market, but its saddles are rapidly becoming the perch of choice amongst the pro pack, with Fabian Cancellara amongst the top names now racing to victory on Prologo saddles.
The range consists of eight saddles, four of which are aimed at road cyclists. The Original Gear Collection 2008 is the name for the series of saddles which are exact replicas of those ridden by the pro riders.
Cancellara opts for the Scratch, a 182g saddle that gets its low weight from an HWD (high weave density) T700 carbon fibre base that allows different thicknesses where more material is needed, titanium rails and a covering of light foam padding.
To complement the saddles there’s also a range of bar tape, including Doubletouch. It’s touted as the first double thickness tape, and manages to combine different thicknesses depending on the area of the handlebar. So along the tops gel inserts provide cruising comfort while the gel disappears when you get onto the drops, leaving good old cork to cushion your hands. How ingenious.
For a more classic look the Leather Touch tape is, as the name suggests, a leather bar tape, available in black or brown. Plain Touch is a traditional cork tape available in a wide array of colours.
