Rapha Winter Collar
In the lowest temperatures, the deep collar of a jersey is sometimes not enough to fend off the biting cold. Enter the winter collar. Rapha’s is a two-piece offering, long enough to pull up over the ears while still providing protection for the throat and chest, or to be worn, Dick Turpin style, across the mouth. There’s a small gap between the two sections so you can guzzle a gel or flapjack without having to remove it, and also to aid airflow, although Rapha claim that merino wool has its own channels. We’ll find out.

Rapha has two winter collars in its range, separated by a heavier gauge merino and fleece lining for the Deep Winter offering. We’ll be testing the lighter of the wo, and if January arrives with its usual bite, we’ll be glad of it.
The Rapha Deep Winter Collar is available in black, in one size, and costs £40.
