Thomson make beautiful components and the Carbon handlebar is no exception. Thomson are best known for their CNC-machined aluminium parts and this is the US firm’s first carbon fibre road handlebar, made in one piece over an expanded polystyrene mandrel to ensure a consistent wall thickness and to eliminate internal wrinkles, all in the name of saving weight (a claimed 200g). The carbon layup on the Thomson Carbon also uses three fibre tyres to provide stiffness in high-stress areas and flex where required to build in some comfort.
