Stages power meter (£799)
The Stages power meter is the watt recorder of choice for Team Sky, with a super-light and (within the power meter market) affordable crank-based design.
Weighing in at just 20g, the power meter works by measuring left-leg power output via the non-driveside crank arm and doubling it to create an estimate of total power.
The power meter is ANT+ compatible and is available on a wide range of aluminium cranksets, starting with Shimano 105 at £599).
At the top end of the scale is the Shimano Dura-Ace unit (£799) pictured above on Geraint Thomas’ Pinarello Dogma F8.
