Shimano have launched the ultra-lightweight CM-1000 sports camera – the latest addition to an increasingly competitive market.
The diminutive camera is designed for secure, adhesive mounting or it can be easily stowed in a pocket when not in use.
Featuring a simple-to-use two-button layout, it has a dual LED system and audible cues to confirm settings, intended to make it easy to use while on the move.
Its bright lens, with an aperture of F2.0, boosts low-light performance while the camera is also waterproof to ten metres, sealed to protect against dust and can be sprayed clean.
Furthermore, it is unlikely to be intrusive as it measures just 70.8mm by 44.2mm and 30.3mm in height and weighs in at just 86g with a memory card.
Containing a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, it can be used for video and still images, with the standard resolution of a photo around 3.1 megapixels.
The CM-1000 can also be connected to a phone to share images, or provide remote settings and framing from your device.
And it also boasts the USP of being compatible with Shimano’s new Di2 Wireless Unit, which will allow users to monitor performance against video.
Powered by a lithium-ION battery, Shimano claim the unit – due to land in May, with pricing to be confirmed – has a battery life of two hours, and will take four hours to fully charge.
Separate cap and chest-mount harnesses will also be made available as separate accessories to accompany the device.
