Trek Émonda ALR
Trek Émonda ALR
When Trek launched the Émonda, pretty much everyone looked on wistfully, safe in the knowledge that the top-of-the-range, 4.65kg, £11,000 dream bike would remain just that: a dream.
But the Wisconsin brand have just announced that an alu version of the Émonda will be available in two builds and a frameset.
And Trek haven’t just bashed out any old alu Émonda-alike either. They claim that the frame weighs 1,050g for a 56cm which puts it up there with the very lightest alloy frames on the market, all at a solid £700 price point.
Trek have put part of the weight reduction down to their ‘invisible weld’ technology, which apparently drops the weight while increasing weld strength, as well as giving the frame a slick look comparable to that of the carbon version. Smart.
We’ve got a Trek Émonda 6, equipped with Shimano Ultegra for £1700 (the Shimano 105 version costs £1,300), winging its way to us to test so watch out for a full review.
Price: £699.99 (frameset only)
